Digital Healthcare Ophthalmology solution implemented in Japan
Digital Healthcare has recently been awarded a contract to supply its OcuLab software platform for a Clinical Ophthalmology Screening Programme, the Funagata Eye Study, at the Yamagata University Faculty of Medicine in Japan.
OcuLab is a flexible, powerful and modern piece of software technology that connects ophthalmology instruments of all types and delivers the images and information captured by those modalities to the clinician at the point of patient engagement.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the Yamagata University Faculty of Medicine has implemented OcuLab to integrate its various clinical ophthalmology instruments and make the images available to the clinician for evaluation and diagnosis of sight threatening disease.
Built on Microsoft.Net technology, Digital Healthcare’s OcuLab product provides the ability to make patient data available and accessible when and where needed with reduced costs whilst offering the user maximum flexibility and ease of use. The benefits result in faster and more effective diagnosis of disease with improved treatment outcomes.
OcuLab can scale easily from a standalone system in a single district general or private hospital, to networked systems in the largest teaching hospital or regional Trust spread over many locations. OcuLab effortlessly handles millions of patient records with speed and accuracy.
Kevin McDonnell, Managing Director at Digital Healthcare, commented: "Clinical Ophthalmology Screening programmes have advanced rapidly in recent years with the introduction and widespread use of new instrument technologies, clinical interventions and treatment options. Technology to integrate and disseminate the information, leading to improved care and outcomes has not kept pace. Digital Healthcare's OcuLab product is designed to integrate, manage and share information across the clinical enterprise. We are delighted that OcuLab has been chosen by the Yamagata University Faculty of Medicine to manage the instrument integration and patient pathways in its Screening program in Ophthalmology".
